Ya¡¯an Middle School was established in 1905 on the time honored tradition of academic excellence. It is one of the first hundred key schools of Sichuan province to enjoy high prestige. In its nearly one hundred years history, the assiduous work of generations of teachers with its accumulation of culture has caused its reputation to increase in western Sichuan. Ya¡¯an Middle School is well known for its pure atmosphere in teaching and learning and has made great contribution to people. In the past ten years, we have sent 3,600 students to various colleges and universities, more than 460 of these students have been recruited by the top£­ten universities in China, such as Peking, Qinghua¡¢Tongji¡¢the China¡¯s Science & Technology University of contests, 6 have won the Special Prize, 30 the First Prize in state level and 1,000 received the provincial prize. Because of this, it has been given the following honors: ¡°Spirit Demonstration School¡±, ¡°Civilization unit¡±, ¡°Model Collective in traditional P.E¡±, one of the one hundred ¡°Demonstration School featuring art¡± etc. It is worth mentioning that all these titles are of provincial grade which shadow the numerous honors in prefectural level.Our school has four apartments for foreign experts and each of them has a living room ,two bedrooms ,a kitchen,as well as an air-conditioner a fridge ,a washing machine ,a TV, a micro-wave,a computer, a telephone within Ya¡¯an region and so on.

Ya¡¯an Middle School now covers an area of 120 mu (about 20 acres) with a peaceful and secluded campus fresh air. The green trees provide the cool shade and its meadows beautify the campus which is full of the fragrance of flowers. At present, there are 60 teaching classes in our school with 2900 students. Among the 194 members of our teaching staff, we have 6 special-grade teachers, 63 senior teachers. Above all, we will further clarify our teaching guidelines and continue to practice Quality-oriented education, adopting new ideas and a modern management system. We¡¯re now making great strides to reach the standards of state Demonstration school and we¡¯re sure to succeed eventually.

Ya¡¯an, located on the west edge of the Sichuan Basin, is an important middle-sized city in west China since ancient times, Yaan has been a vital communications line to Tibet and Yunnan, furthermore, it¡¯s an important hub of merchandise and the main passageway to the southern silk road.

Ya¡¯an is the hometown of giant pandas, the first panda in the world was found here, it has provided with 120 pandas for the state since PRC established, of which, 16 pandas have been sent to foreign countries, symbolizing friendship and peace.
